Working with Nomensa has enabled us to successfully build an accessible website. More importantly, we now have the skills and knowledge to carry this forward with our future web development.

1 Challenge

With ongoing work to improve the user experience of the website and meet web accessibility guidelines, Midlands Co-operative Society required support to achieve both a Double-A website in their existing look and feel, and the assurance that all new pages and features to the website would also be accessible, usable and orientated to users' goals.

2 Process

Nomensa created Double-A accessible templates for the Midlands Co-op that incorporated their existing look and feel and brand values.

Nomensa supported the in-house team when integrating the new templates. Nomensa ensured a high level of knowledge transfer to the Midlands Co-op team to allow them to maintain and update their website with the knowledge that new pages will conform to Double-A accessibility.

3 Outcomes

Since Midlands Co-op launched its new templates it has experienced a record increase in visitors to their home page, also helped by their new templates being search engine friendly.

Midlands Co-op has also experienced a 90% increase in year-on-year traffic figures, 80% increase in time spent on the website and a 40% increase in website downloads, and this is only in the two months since the new template integration.

Midlands Co-op wants to ensure that its future user experience remains inclusive and engaging. By working closely together, Nomensa presented a human-centred design strategy that will deliver measurable return on investment and fulfil its accessibility obligations in an ongoing fashion.
