1. Challenge

Postcomm, the independent regulator of postal services, wished to transform a non-compliant website into a new visually-striking communication channel to meet the government guidelines for web accessibility. The organisation also wanted to ensure the needs of a growing group of customers were met.

Leading up to market deregulation, Postcomm needed to communicate clearly with a diverse range of stakeholders. Providing an accessible and usable experience was paramount to the site’s success.

2. Solution

Nomensa worked with Postcomm to provide an intuitive and engaging experience for its users. By conducting a number of usability studies, the new Postcomm website is a highly user-centric, fully accessible website that allows Postcomm’s stakeholders to efficiently complete their online goals.

Postcomm also adopted Nomensa’s fully accessible Content Management System (CMS), Defacto. With Defacto, Postcomm’s content editors can quickly and easily add and change information on the site.

The Defacto CMS provides Postcomm with a system that allows content editors to maintain a high level of accessibility.  The intuitive functionality of Defacto prompts editors to create and maintain accessible content.

In addition to Defacto’s standard functionality, Nomensa created a Formbuilder module, enabling Postcomm’s web team to create fully accessible forms using the CMS.

3. Results

The new Postcomm website was launched in time for the market opening, and with continuous user experience developments, the website constantly strives to better serve its visitors. Year-on-year to October 2007, the site experienced a 112% increase in unique visitors , demonstrating that more and more people are turning to the Postcomm website for postal services information.
