The Challenge
Taunton Deane Borough Council is committed to providing high quality services and they wish to ensure that the local community is regularly updated with current news and information. To ensure that this information is available for everyone Taunton Deane Borough Council approached Nomensa to examine the website’s current accessibility and make recommendations for improving the user experience of the site.
The Process
An in depth accessibility audit to Triple-A standard and expert screen reader review were carried out by Nomensa in order to gain a clear understanding of the accessibility status of the Taunton Deane Borough Council website.
This approach identified recommendations for the website in the short and long term to enable Taunton Deane Borough Council to operate an accessible Internet environment for their audience.
The Outcomes
Nomensa provided Taunton Deane Borough Council with a detailed report which clearly documented results against each of the checkpoints in the Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). It highlighted the accessibility issues and also recommendations and solutions for fixing these issues.
In a workshop presentation Nomensa was able to walk through the steps covered in the report to ensure that all information was discussed in a comprehensible manner. From this workshop came direct actions for future development of the Taunton Deane Borough Council website.
