Challenge
Trafford’s team required training on how to write effective web content as part of their larger project to implement a new Content Management System. Ensuring that content is usable and properly formatted for the Internet is incredibly important especially for local government websites. Nomensa was chosen to deliver a fully customised Writing for the Web training workshop with their content editors.
Process
A client specific approach was adopted so that the course incorporated examples taken from the Trafford website.
Course topics ranged from how different it is to read content on screen, the structure, style and general wording of content, writing with accessibility in mind and an interactive workshop.
Sessions were held with participants to ensure that new knowledge was translated into practical applications for use on the website.
Outcomes
At the end of the workshop the Trafford team felt confident that they understood the key principles of writing effective web content. They have been able to apply the skills to the new website due to Nomensa’s real world and tangible approach. This training will help to maintain the website in the future and be a benefit to all users of Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council website.
