Nomensa complete the first phase of an accessibility programme
Nomensa, experts at improving e-business effectiveness through
humanising design today announced the completion of the first phase of
a programme to improve the website accessibility of the University of
Wales, Swansea.
(Priority 3 is the highest level of accessibility set by the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative, the international standards body for the Internet.)
Nomensa will continue to provide ongoing accessibility services to the university to ensure that initial analysis is utilised to make the site fully accessible and compliant with both current legislation and the international standards set by the W3C.
We have been very pleased with the way the Accessibility Project has progressed," said a spokesperson from Swansea University. "Nomensa have been supportive and have clearly shown us how to resolve our accessibility problems. We have found them professional, clear and fast-moving in their dealings with us and their reports are always easy to read and, I’m sure, will be easy to implement. We look forward to moving on to the next step and working with Nomensa to resolve the issues they have identified and to bring the University’s web site up to Priority 3 level.

Due to the way that the templates are implemented, changes made will roll out across the site effectively with little disruption.
The assignment is a further endorsement of how Nomensa’s approach to accessibility ensures web sites are compliant with legislation and tailor solutions to the specific needs of each client.
Universities have a huge responsibility to make their web sites accessible for students with special needs. Often there is a complex structure of web pages that has grown organically over a number of years with many people editing pages" commented Simon Norris, a founder of Nomensa. "Nomensa ensures a high level of knowledge transfer whilst corrective steps are taken. This is especially important in the Education Sector who must be empowered to both create and promote accessible design. The result is a positive shift in the way that accessible design is regarded within the organisation which can only benefit all users of the site in future years to come.
