Complying with disability leglisation

Continuing its commitment to best-practice web accessibility, MSN, in association with Nomensa and the British Web Design and Marketing Association (BWDMA), are holding an accessibility workshop that will assist MSN partners in becoming compliant with disability legislation.

Held at the Century Club in Soho London on Thursday 14th October 2004 the workshop aims to cover:

  • An overview of the Disability Discrimination Act
  • Key facts and figures: why this is not a "niche" initiative
  • The MSN roadmap to compliance and beyond
  • Best-practice sharing session, including a testimonial from Nomensa
  • Hands-on experience of assistive technologies
  • A typical Project Plan that achieves maximum compliance on the web.

As of 1st October any company that has not made reasonable adjustments to ensure their products and services are accessible to people with all forms of disabilities can be prosecuted and fined. This also applies to web sites and web services.

MSN is aiming to get all of its network components compliant with the maximum W3C accessibility standards, so the workshop has been designed to help MSN partners understand how to improve in accessibility and usability, and not only reach compliance, but to excel in this area.

Nomensa is dedicated to improving online effectiveness through humanising technology. It is recognised as a leading authority on fusing accessibility, usability, design and technology to provide effective and easy-to-use solutions that are universally accessible.

The BWDMA seeks to improve e-business standards through sharing knowledge, understanding and proliferation of best practice. To further its aims and objectives, the association actively solicits constructive relationships with industry, government, academia and other such bodies, as may have common goals or purpose.
