The All Party Internet Group (APIG) and the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) hosted a seminar that addressed the key issues surrounding accessibility, usability, social inclusion and e-government. The seminar, titled "Access for All in the Digital Age", was held at 1 Parliament Street, Westminster and was sponsored by Nomensa.

Brian White MP chaired the event which proved to be an interesting and well supported seminar discussing the key issues facing government.

Michael Burton, Chris Holmes and Steve Beesley from the DRC spoke about driving forward recommendations from their research report on accessibility and the impact on government departments.

Cabinet Office logoTom Adams, Senior Digital Media Consultant for the E-Government Unit in the Cabinet Office, led a lively debate on the challenge of e-Accessibility in local and central government, and discussed the importance of effective training for key stakeholders.

Simon Norris, managing director of Nomensa and Léonie Watson, head of accessibility at Nomensa, concluded the seminar with a close examination of Haringey Council, and a short discussion titled "Implementing Best Practice in Accessible Communications".

Representatives from KPMG, the BBC, NTL, Masons, SOCITM, RNIB and IDeA attended the seminar, making the event a rare opportunity for key industry stakeholders from varying sectors to show support and share ideas about the issues when considering accessible online communications.
