As part of the 2004 International Visual Communications Association (IVCA), Biz Net Awards, Nomensa were sponsors of a new award category that recognises its winner for an outstanding demonstration of thought leadership. Nomensa were also judges on the panel for the Web Accessibility award, which was presented to John Lewis and the National Health School.

The Biz Net Awards are internationally accepted benchmarks for excellence.

Simon Norris, MD of Nomensa, made a special contribution by presenting Judy Gibbons of MSN, the Biz Net award for Thought Leadership. The award, which is the first of its kind in the Biz Nets, celebrates Judy's outstanding contribution to the digital economy and her leading vision in the New Media industry.

When introducing the award, Norris said,

Thought leaders make a difference through inspiration, challenging convention, and having the vision to make a difference.

Léonie Watson, Nomensa's Head of Accessibility was on the panel of judges for the Web Accessibility award, and when invited on stage to give reason why the winners were selected, explained:

John Lewis was chosen to receive the accessibility award as it is excellent to see a well known, trusted, high street store embrace all visitors to their site.

The site was also awarded because it was an enterprise level site, which makes accessibility a little harder to accomplish.

Wired For Health also received an award for accessibility. Miss Watson explained that:

It was good to see a site that understands the importance of enabling everybody to access important information. Particularly in the field of health and education; for young people and children this is even more important.

Celebrating four years of promoting excellence in digital business content, the IVCA Biz Net Awards were established 4 years ago in partnership with the Design Council, the media and the industry itself, to promote excellence in the effective use of digital business content over the latest delivery platforms.
