Online accessibility and usability experts Nomensa develop ‘Triple A’ site

The All Party Parliamentary Internet Group (APIG) has re-launched its website, www.apig.org.uk, after a redesign by Nomensa. The site has been created with accessibility as a priority, achieving the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) ‘triple A’ standard as defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), far exceeding the 'single A' minimum standard defined by the Cabinet Office e-Government Unit.

In updating the site, APIG and Nomensa have created a new look and feel, as well as making the structure easier to use. Information about APIG’s activities is now more easily accessed, by a much larger audience. The website is built using Defacto, Nomensa’s web content management system, which allows the APIG team to manage the content and structure in an accessible environment, whilst consistently maintaining an accessible online presence.

Welcoming the new website, APIG Chairman Derek Wyatt MP said:

APIG has a busy year ahead and the updated website will help us promote our work. Accessibility is a crucial element in ensuring more people benefit from all that the internet has to offer and hopefully visitors will find the new site easy to navigate around.

Leonie Watson, Nomensa's Head of Accessibility commented:

At a time when government expects all public sector websites to meet specific accessibility levels, it was important Nomensa prioritised easy access when redesigning the APIG website. We hope the result is a website which can set the benchmark for All Party Groups in this area.
