In collaboration with the Scottish law firm McGrigors, Nomensa recently spoke at a seminar exploring the technical and legal issues surrounding websites, in relation to the Disability Discrimination Act.
Held at McGrigor's offices, Old Bailey, London, the seminar addressed the responsibilities placed upon organisations in terms of UK disability legislation, as well as the practical aspect of implementing a successful accessibility strategy online.
Léonie Watson, head of accessibility and Simon Norris, managing director, of Nomensa, were invited to speak about the technical matters of online accessibility. Emphasising the importance of designing technology with people in mind, the seminar gave supporting evidence of the business benefits of maintaining an accessible website.
Speaking about the need to follow a well formed accessibility strategy, Watson said:
No matter what type of organisation you are part of, the need to discover the current accessibility of your website, define clear accessibility goals and then to ensure you have the right tools and skills to attain those goals, is imperative.
