Award for website communication

Nomensa, this year’s sponsor of the Clarion Award for Website Communication, has demonstrated their commitment to driving forward accessibility and social responsibility. Simon Norris of Nomensa presented awards to three leading organisations for their exemplary use of websites to communicate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The awards, presented on September 7th at the Lewis Media Centre, Millbank, hosted leading figures from the communications industry, business, government and cultural sectors.  The awards celebrated the finest examples of responsible communication on CSR, Sustainable Development, Cultural/Social Aspiration and Social Inclusion.

This year’s ceremony reflected the increasing competition surrounding the Clarions with 30 awards being presented across all media platforms including video, interactive media, websites, live performance arts, radio, television, mainstream film, and paper based materials.

Handing over the awards for Website Communications was Managing Director of Nomensa, Simon Norris:

Being invited to participate in the Clarion awards is a true honour for Nomensa, and in helping to recognise true leadership for good web communications, Nomensa is proud to be encouraging best practices on the Internet. The Clarion Awards have taken a stand in an arena that is traditionally not known for its social responsibility. They have taken CSR from buzzword to actuality and in doing so have uncovered a glorious range of organisations who have transcended tradition to shine amongst their peers.

As Wayne Drew, Chief Executive of the IVCA says:

This year’s Clarion Awards have gained a momentum all their own. We’ve had a considerable amount of interest from across the spectrum of media, commerce and the arts. Their mission reflects a wider belief in business and society that communications can be motivational, inspiring and dynamic. There is a clear recognition that all of our work, whether in a corporate environment, on stage, in cinema or broadcast to people’s homes, can not only be engaging and effective but, occasionally, truly aspirational too.

The awards closed with a presentation to Floella Benjamin for winning the IVCA Champion award for  all of her contributions to the media industry.
