Recognition for the new Equality South West website
Accessibility and usability site redesign drives 150% increase in visitors
A Nomensa accessibility and usability redesign for the Equality South West (ESW) website has won a Clarion Award in the Websites Communication Products category, set to be announced later today. Since the redesign, completed in May, ESW has experienced a 150% increase in website visitors.
ESW, a not for profit organisation, which tackles discrimination and promotes equality across the South West of England, selected Nomensa to revamp its website to help raise its profile and increase public awareness of its services. At the same time, a key focus for the redesign was ensuring the site was fully accessible to anybody with sensory disabilities.
We’ve been extremely pleased with the new website and to win a Clarion Award for it really is the icing on the cake.

said Paul Dunn, Interim Director, ESW.
Nomensa has created a visually stimulating, open and accessible website which is easy to navigate and provides an enormous amount of useful information covering a range of issues without being overwhelming.

In addition to the 150% increase in visitors, Nomensa’s redesign has contributed to higher attendance at both ESW events and those arranged by its partners. Moving forwards ESW expects to receive a minimum of 20 enquiries each week as a direct result of visits to the website.
Simon Norris, managing director of Nomensa adds:
As a not for profit equality organisation, ESW, take online social responsibility (OSR) very seriously and we are delighted that our site redesign has gained them the accolade of a Clarion Award. In addition to the Clarion Award win, the increases the website has experienced in visitors and general site functionality further demonstrate the vast benefits of having an accessible user-friendly website.
