A new system to judge the popularity of local eGovernment services is to be launched.

Beginning at the end of this month, a Volumetric Guidance scheme will start to measure the volume of services delivered over the following five months.

The scheme aims to quantify the number of people signing up to and using eGovernment services and judge how effective eGovernment marketing campaigns have been.

It will allow the performances of different councils to be compared and spot trends and best practice.

Services to be measured include council tax enquiries, electoral register applications, library catalogues, household waste and applications for site inspections.

Local councils are now being recruited to take part in the pilot project.
