A virtual planning office has been created by Salisbury District Council allowing local people to look at planning applications at a touch of a button.
Wiltshire residents can now access a new online mapping service which allows them to search for all planning issues.
Around £350,000 has been invested in the scheme and the technology has been developed by the Geographical Information System (GIS).
It means residents no longer have to visit the council's planning office and sort through vast amounts of paperwork.
"This innovative new service will make all the planning information you need available to you on-line.
"We are determined to make using our planning service as easy and painless as possible," said councillor Margaret Peach.
The site allows the visitors to do a number of tasks, including finding out about past planning permission, locating information on a specific property or checking whether a property is in a area of conservation.
