Salisbury District Council's website has reported a growing number of people clicking on its various web pages.
Individual pages are getting over 10,000 visits every day, marking a 60 per cent increase since January.
The website's popularity has soared to such a degree that the site now gets more traffic within the space of two and a half weeks than it did during the whole of 2002.
"Our website has come on in leaps and bounds. You can access everything you need to know about the council at the click of a button," explains Salisbury councillor Jeremy Nettle.
"The website offers a virtual council service 24 hours a day, seven days a week and it's no surprise that more and more people are taking advantage of this," he added.
Visitors to the site can now complete various tasks instantly and efficiently online, ranging from submitting planning applications, paying council tax or finding out about what's going on in the area.
There is also a link to the council's brand new website designed for young people, which can be found at yeahbut.org.uk.
