The Internet has revolutionised today's office banter, with most of us now turning to email to joke and gossip.

A survey has revealed that 98 per cent of office workers in the UK are using email at work to arrange their social lives.

At least 90 per cent send jokes to each other during working hours and another 78 per cent organise holiday plans online.

The usual hot topics of office life have spread to email with 64 per cent chatting online about relationships, love life and over half of us (56 per cent) will gossip about others in the office.

The email management company Cryopserver carried out the survey on the nation's emailing habits.
