A county council on the west coast of Wales has introduced an online planning application facility.

Ceredigion County Council is the fourth local authority in Wales to introduce it and one of countless councils across the UK.

The website allows anyone with Internet access to make a planning application online or work on an existing application.

Once finished, the application forms can be submitted electronically via the government-run Planning Portal or just printed off and sent by post.

"This is a great step forward for the Council," said Hag Harries, Cabinet Member with responsibility for planning.

"This new piece of technology brings us in line with the other three authorities who have lead on this innovative service," she added.

The council can also claim to be one of the fastest authorities to implement an online planning website.

After just six months of working alongside the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister the site was up and running.
