The winners of the e-Europe awards have been revealed in Manchester, winning praise for their innovations in e-government.

A total of four companies managed to scoop the top awards, selected from 52 finalists.

The winners included a Polish company, KSI ZUS, who created a computer system to improve the reform of Poland's pension system.

Denmark's Agency of Governmental Management also picked up an award for its project that developed electronic invoicing.

Another winner, the Netherlands-based Kadaster on-line project, won its trophy for creating a site that provides online access to land registry products through its nationwide land registry records.

The final winning project was the Revenue Online Service from Ireland, receiving praise for its secure online service which made it easier for millions to file their returns on-line.

These awards hope to improve the level of cooperation between EU member states, helping further the development of e-government solutions and making Europe a competitive knowledge-based society.
