New web pages have been created to alert the residents of Sheffield to any potential traffic delays in the area.

The pages appear on the Sheffield City Council site and features the locations of any current traffic incidents as well as the time the problem began.

Visitors to the site can also access images of traffic conditions via the Urban Traffic Control room's cameras.

Furthermore, the council is planning to extend the online service to allow people to receive automatic traffic alerts via their mobile phone or email account.

"The city council is working on many different projects, and has been for a long time, to ease congestion in the city and keep traffic moving," said councillor Terry Fox.

"Traffic Alert is a new system we have set up so that people can check this webpage to see if there are any incidents they need to be aware of, so they can make more informed decisions about their journeys."

There are currently 33 traffic cameras across the city and the images collected will also be eventually accessible via mobile phones.
