A new scheme will offer rewards of £500,00 for projects that help improve local e-planning services.
The money will reach local e-planning initiatives via the Planning and Regulatory Services Online National Project (PARSOL) run by the Wandsworth Borough Council.
PARSOL helps local authorities speed up the process of implementing e-planning services that e-government minister Jim Fitzpatrick believes is essential.
"Innovative e-enabled services are key to transforming the planning system to meet the needs of individuals and businesses.
"The funding will enable local authorities, through the PARSOL Planning Project, to continuing making the vision of e-enabled planning services a reality."
PARSOL will work alongside the government's Planning Portal, which allows individuals and organisations to more effectively and efficiently submit and check up on planning applications.
The online portal will now become the new base for PARSOL's planning website pages and guidance.
