Information relating to private finance initiatives (PFI) is to be posted online in an attempt to provide the schemes with more transparency and help consumers reach a more thorough understanding.

Government-owned Partnerships UK (PUK) has been put in charge of exploiting the potential of such an Internet function to help clarify an area with a suggested market value of £40 billion, according to the Financial Times.

James Stewart, chief executive of PUK, said that the proposed use of the Internet as a solution would prove beneficial to the general public but also public sector procuring authorities and private sector providers.

A statement from PUK added that the group is committed to extending the range of electronic information by taking advantage of the Freedom of Information Act.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
