The employment relations body Acas today furthered the use of IT in work place training by launching a free e-learning package to help employers deal with working parents' rights at work.
According to Acas, women make up almost half of the working population and many workers are also parents and have specific employment rights.
The new e-learning package from Acas helps employers by providing a free step by step guide to such topics as maternity rights and pay, paternity leave and pay, adoption leave and pay and the right to request flexible working.
Using the packages, people can set up procedures to suit their own organisation or revisit the website at any time for practical advice and information when dealing with a real issue.
Gill McCarthy, Acas director for Yorkshire and Humber, said: "The course is ideal for those employers who have not had to deal with a working parents' issue before.
"If you have taken the time to recruit the best person for the job it makes good business sense to ensure they keep on working for you even if their circumstances change."© DeHavilland Information Services plc
