A 'Technology at Work' event has recently been held at Blackburn Rovers Football Club to demonstrate the benefits of technology in the workplace and as a driver for innovation.
Taking centre stage at the event, organised by the Lancashire Digital Development Agency (LDDA) with support from Business Link Lancashire and East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, was Yo! Sushi founder and star of TV's 'Dragon's Den' Simon Woodroffe.
Mr Woodroffe explained to delegates the ways in which businesses can optimise their entrepreneurial talent by pushing back boundaries and stepping out of their "comfort zones".
"In this competitive world, you need to clearly identify what sets you apart from your competitors. Successful businesses seize every opportunity that faces them, and in this worldwide marketplace, we must embrace technology and strive for never-ending innovation," explained Mr Woodroffe.
"Even the most fertile imagination cannot begin to conceive of the radical changes that will take place over the next few decades. That is why we have to be players in the game - the Internet is now in its infancy and those businesses that are maximising the use of technology now will be the winners in the global age as the 21st century unfolds," he said.
Kevin Morley, head of ICT policy at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) added: "This event was a great opportunity for businesses to see first-hand the huge benefits offered by fast and cost-effective broadband connections. Broadband has the potential to revolutionise the way in which businesses operate."© DeHavilland Information Services plc
