Computer software and hardware innovations are today being hailed for helping transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the globe.
The latest such assistive technology breakthrough has seen NaturalPoint unveil its newly priced affordable SmartNAV device which is already helping individuals with conditions such as Spinal Muscular Atrophy to easily use computers.
Head tracking devices such as the SmartNAV for computer use, are exceptionally valuable pieces of equipment that provide hands-free mouse alternatives operated through slight head or arm movements.
The new line of assistive technology products are designed for a wide range of people, who have physical disabilities like ALS and quadriplegia or those who are experiencing pain from repetitive strain injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
The designers of such products include NaturalPoint's president Jim Richardson who has explained his motif behind such products.
"When I was designing the SmartNAV I was driven from the perspective of what a user would need, including the need to be able to afford the device," he said.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
