The Scottish Tourism Forum and VisitScotland are jointly promoting the use of broadband as a way of boosting tourism in the country, reports the Scotsman.
Alan Rankin, chief executive of the Scottish Tourism Forum, told the paper: "With ever-increasing numbers of consumers fact-finding and booking online, the more businesses that can fully optimise the benefits of broadband, will increase our competitive edge in the tourism market. Broadband is faster, more reliable, downloads quicker and is a more efficient way to conduct business.
"It improves customer service levels in premises who offer broadband Internet facilities to guests."
John Boyle, the owner of Fly Zoom airlines and founder of Direct Holidays concurred: "Broadband is essential, the task can be done much more quickly and efficiently and the downloading of villas and hotels is speeded up."
According to a new research by the Broadband for Scotland campaign business take-up of broadband in Scotland has more than doubled to 37 per cent (from 16 per cent) over the last 18 months.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
