Computer game technology has been introduced at a school in Kent to help pupils learn more about their local area and issues surrounding planning and regeneration.
In a drive designed to give youngsters a better idea of the topics surrounding urban planning, Fair View junior school in Gillingham has teamed up with the makers of Sim City to create a specially adapted version of the game to be used in the classroom.
As part of the Medway Children's University course the game gives the user an opportunity to build their own cities, has been modified by the makers to include recognisable landmarks for the pupils to play with
University manager Teresa Murphy commented: "This could be a tremendously exciting development for all Medway's schools."
Ms Murphy added that results had been good with youngsters not only enjoying the classes but also becoming more aware of their surrounding community.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
