The growing power on the Internet as a broadcasting medium is being demonstrated in the upcoming wedding of Price Charles to Camilla Parker Bowles.

The streets of Windsor are set to be thronged with well wishers this Saturday but those who prefer the comforts at home will be able to catch all the events via some powerful webcams.

Two of the devices which allow users to view real time events on their home computers will be positioned in prime positions on top of the Macdonald Castle hotel in the royal borough.

The webcams also mean that anyone in the world will be able to see the events in near real time.

"We want to make sure that the UK benefits from this potential tourist boost again by offering every PC user in the world the chance to follow the royal wedding," Robert Kilgour, chairman of Network Webcams, told the BBC.

"Not from a £5,000 post on a roof, or through on online bidding war but free and with the best seat in the house," he added.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
