The Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames has developed a system that promises improve the access of the public to tickets for community events, without incurring third party commission fees.

The online system helps community groups sell tickets to a new audience, who typically would not visit a local library or tourist information office to buy a ticket in person, reports PublicTechnolgy.net.

The e-ticketing solution does not charge community groups a commission fee, so they benefit from receiving the full face value of the ticket.

The public pay an additional ten per cent on top of the ticket price to cover administrative costs.

Kingston is making the solution freely available to all other UK local authorities through the Local Authority Open Application Sharing Portal.

Funded by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), the solution is also available through the e-Pay National Project.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
