A new survey of 1,023 businesses has revealed the impact that the Internet and new ways of digital working is having in the UK.
According to the survey conducted at the Internet World Exhibition, 31 per cent of respondents said that using the Internet had led to greater efficiency within their businesses.
Furthermore, 26 per cent of businesses said that using the Internet had generated a broader client base and resulted in an increase in turnover.
Mark Dye, managing editor for Penton Media, the company the conducted the survey, said: "As the Internet has matured into an easily adoptable solution across every discipline, businesses have recognised the need to increase the level of their Internet expertise. And the positive results are clear to see."
The Internet seems to have consolidated its position as an integral part of British business practice with 22 per cent of companies saying that using the internet had reduced costs and increased profits.
Nineteen per cent said that using the Internet generated more international business and nine per cent of respondents said that using the Internet had resulted in reduced staffing levels.
"We have all seen stories about the growth of online ad spend, of revenues and of UK businesses getting wired. Finally we're seeing stories about the real impact the Internet is making on the bottom line of UK business," commented show director Phil Nelson.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
