A new speech-enabled computer platform designed by Microsoft is rapidly gaining approval from IT and computer telephony companies in the UK.
The latest firm to voice its support for the Microsoft Speech Server 2004 R2 system is computer hardware designer Aculab, based at Mount Farm in Milton Keynes.
Bosses at Aculab have also claimed that users of the new system, which is being launched on June 1st, will be able to take advantage of its own media processing resource card, called "Prosody".
The announcement confirms that the company is engaged in an informal strategic partnership with the US software giant, a deal which will continue to provide accessibility options for consumers in the future, according to Faye McClenahan, head of strategic marketing for Aculab.
"Aculab has always endeavoured to provide customers with choice," said Ms McClenahan. "Supporting Microsoft Speech Server 2004 R2 on Aculab hardware provides customers and prospects with a cost effective alternative, which can be deployed globally."
Teresa Fagan, director of marketing for the Microsoft Speech Server group at Microsoft Corp, re-iterated the benefits of the partnership.
"Aculab's support for Microsoft Speech Server 2004 R2 opens up new opportunities for its deployment throughout the world, reinforcing our mutual commitment to making speech technology mainstream," she said.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
