A major international conference is preparing to address Internet and computer technology training opportunities expressly for Latinos with various impairments.
The annual Bridges to Employment accessibility conference proved tremendously successful last year when staged in Chicago and another good showing next week could see the conference travel around Europe and the UK.
Representatives from Latino advocacy groups, disability policymakers and recruitment executives will attend the event to discuss issues relevant to Latinos with disabilities.
The event will feature several workshops, presentations and seminars exploring new assistive technology in the workplace, disability employment rights and employer narratives about how to employ people with disabilities.
The event is being run in collaboration with the World Institute on Disability group and Proyecto Vision, an organisation committed to helping Latinos with disabilities find employment.
"The conference allows a unique opportunity to bring the community together to discuss initiatives to remove barriers to the labour market," commented Kathy Martinez, Proyecto Vision director.
This year's event in North Carolina will be preceded by the day-long Latino Disability Empowerment Forum funded by the American Express Foundation.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
