Lancaster city council has today become the latest regional agency to launch an accessibility-enhanced website.
As is becoming ever more commonplace in the UK, the new site has been developed to meet latest government guidelines on accessibility and usability.
The site now allows for alterations to be made to text size, colour and background contrast to cater for individual preferences and is also now accessible to those who do not use a mouse or who use assistive technologies such as text readers.
Usability has also been enhanced through the redevelopments with specific quick links introduced to popular pages and online services such as paying council bills and local recycling points.
Councillor Alex Stone said: "The council is working hard to make its information and services as accessible as possible to everyone in the district and the new website is one the results. I hope that existing and new web users will find the site quicker to load and simpler to use."
Lancaster's new website currently attracts over 10,000 visitors each month and expectations are that this figure will now soar as a result of the site's enhanced usability and accessibility features.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
