The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) has moved to eradicate the awareness discrepancies it identified during recent research into website accessibility.

According to Usability News, the new guidance takes the form of a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) and will be controlled by the British Standards Institution.

The PAS will be introduced to better inform and educate website commissioners and developers of their obligations with regards website accessibility.

The document will outline standard regulations and hopefully dispel any confusion surrounding the issue.

The DRC has decided to take this course of action following its investigation last year that revealed an unacceptably high level of people with disabilities are still finding many websites difficult to use.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
