Nine out of ten businesses across Europe are now using the Internet, according to a major survey on Internet usage.
The new report from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Community, found that 89 per cent of enterprises across the EU25 member states, along with Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Norway and Iceland, were using the Internet.
And more than half (53 per cent) of those businesses were using a broadband connection, the report discovered.
Denmark and Finland saw the highest levels of business Internet usage, at 97 per cent - closely followed by Belgium and Sweden, at 96 per cent.
The UK was not far behind at 89 per cent, whilst Portugal registered the lowest level of business Internet usage at 77 per cent.
The highest level of general Internet use by individuals was 82 per cent, recorded in Sweden.
