Revenue generated by consumer broadband value-added services (BVAS) has continued to experience considerable growth this year, a new report has revealed.
Market research group Point Topic, based in London, found that worldwide revenue has more then doubled, rising from $3.3 billion in 2003 to $6.9 billion in 2004.
In tune with this rise, the number of consumer broadband lines has also grown by approximately 45 per cent to over 131 million.
John Bosnell, senior analyst at Point Topic, said the signs bode exceptionally well for broadband usage, for suppliers and for consumers.
"Most value-added services delivered over broadband increased in both users and total revenues," he added.
"Services such as video over broadband, music and voice over IP (VoIP) all grew strongly."© DeHavilland Information Services plc
