More than half of adults using the Internet do so to find tips on various DIY duties for around the home, according to new data.
A study conducted by research experts Pew Internet revealed that 55 per cent of home dial-up users have searched for such information online at one time or another with approximately one in 20 internet users looking expressly for tips on an average day.
This figure rises for adults searching for DIY advice from home via a high speed broadband connection to around 61 per cent, while the portion of people admitting to searching both at home and at work rises further to 69 per cent.
The research adds that men outnumber women looking for do-it-yourself information online by almost three to two.
The popularity of this use of the Internet ranks the category as third only to getting news (72 per cent) and researching products or services (78 per cent).© DeHavilland Information Services plc
