The Hilton group has announced that it is expanding its successful in-room broadband scheme to all of its European establishments.
The Internet access service has to date only been available in American hotels but rave reviews have convinced the chain's chiefs to branch out.
The move should see Hilton guests in Africa plus continental and eastern Europe able to access the high-speed Internet service by the end of the year.
In all 11,000 guestrooms will be wired up as will meeting and conference rooms which will get solutions ranging from single-user high-speed Internet access to fully comprehensive solutions.
Angela German, vice president information technology Europe & Africa at Hilton international said: "We are really pleased to extend our partnership to become pan-European and to also cover Eastern Europe and Africa."
She continued to reveal that Hilton has recruited Swisscom Eurospot to aid with the implementation.
"Guest satisfaction deriving from the key benefits of the Swisscom Eurospot offering, which are security, reliability and flexibility, has convinced us that Swisscom Eurospot is the ideal IT partner for all our properties across Europe," she added.
The technological development has already triggered similar moves by rival hotel chains throughout the US and many are predicting British hotels to react in kind.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
