Lincoln City Council is taking advantage of the Internet to create a new website offering information on environmental issues to coincide with World Environment Day on Sunday 5th June.
The initiative has been set up by EcoLincs - an independent organisation interested in sustainable and ethical issues in and around Lincoln.
Set up with a grant of £1,500 from the Lincoln Community Network to share environmental information with Lincoln people, the website was launched this week as part of EcoLincs' contribution to World Environment Day.
Kate Bell, the council's community environment co-ordinator, said: "The website is an important contribution towards promoting environmental issues in Lincoln. As a community initiative, the site has been produced by local people for local people and can evolve to meet our growing need for better environmental awareness."
Members of the public, community groups and organisations will be able to use the website to advertise their events, find out what environmental projects are going on in and around Lincoln, discuss issues and share useful information.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
