Trade unions will have the opportunity to improve their online services, thanks to the government's Union Modernisation Fund.

The fund is aimed at encouraging unions to become more efficient, and those unions looking to improve their communications links with their members via the Internet are in particular elligible to receive the bursary.

Employment relations minister Gerry Sutcliffe explains: "This fund is to help unions get to grips with the major challenges they face in a modern, changing workplace.

"I am keen to see quality proposals that will make a difference to unions, their members and business."

Between £5 and £10 million will be available via the fund, over a number of years.

Unions will be able to bid for a share of the fund from now until October 3rd.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
