Lambeth council have upgraded their website in an attempt to make it more modern, user-friendly and accessible.
The website now enables residents and businesses to make a number of payments online, such as council tax and business rates. The website also provides residents with access to a number of online forms.
Councillor John Whelan, deputy leader of the council, said: "We can take great pride in our website and the team behind it. We have moved from having very few services on line in 2002 to a fully transactional site that enables our residents to deal directly with the Council in paying bills and downloading documents."
He added that the website contributed to the council's social inclusion agenda, and was far more accessible for disabled people.
The website carries information on over 700 services and has to date seen an increase of 76 per cent in the number of people visiting it.
Furthermore, in SOTCIM's recent independent review of all local authority websites, Lambeth was rated in the top 12 per cent, and its website was singled out for its excellent navigation, accessibility and consultation.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
