The Royal Navy is taking advantage of the usability and accessibility of the Internet to launch a new community website for Royal Navy personnel and families.

The site acts as an advisory service linking its users to the various services that anyone in the Royal Navy might need.

Second sea lord, vice admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent said: "In designing this website we hope to provide you [the Royal Naval Community] with up-to-date and relevant information on all the things, that as part of the naval family, are important and relevant to you."

As the community of the Royal Navy is dispersed all over the world the Navy considered the Internet as a perfect medium to carry the service.
