Huntingdonshire District Council is yet again using the Internet to revolutionise the service it provides.

Huntingdonshire is using a new online publishing and consultation system for part of its local development framework, with the aim of radically adapting the way it consults on its core strategy preferred options.

The software is designed with the target of providing an improved experience for consultees where they can see that their comments have been received, share them with other consultees and track the outcome of those comments while easing the administrative burden of the authority.

Michael Bingham, development plans manager, said: "A key benefit for us has been the ability to produce a web-based version of the core strategy very easily, and to handle comments electronically."

He added that this was "another step on the road towards meeting e-government targets".

The online consultation is another first for this forward-thinking authority, which was also the first to accept online planning applications through the planning portal.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
