The minister for local e-government has outlined the basis of the second phase of the e-Innovations programme.
John Fitzpatrick, minister at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), yesterday announced that there would be around £6 million of funds available for the next stage of this agenda.
He set out the programme's targets as achieving efficient and effective local government, increasing inclusion through innovation, aiding local authority e-business, and also promoting better leadership in local government.
Mr Fitzpatrick said: "Local government can't stand still. People expect its services to improve and to suit their lifestyles, so they are available how and when they want them."
The ODPM has identified some of the projects to obtain matching funding under the e-Innovations programme, including the Greater London authority's sign video call-centre, Bristol City Council's Community Campaign Pack and Birmingham's Open Source Academy.
