Attendants at the Great Yorkshire show will tomorrow get the opportunity to discover how broadband and Internet accessibility is boosting business in the region.

Yorkshire Forward chair Terry Hodgkinson will tomorrow celebrate the excellent broadband facilities now enjoyed by rural communities in the region, in a meeting with Michael Whiteley, owner of East Riding of Yorkshire company Cambrai Covers, who has increased his business by 20 per cent since installing broadband and has worked tirelessly to bring broadband to his community.

Terry Hodgkinson, said: "One of our key priorities over the last three years has been to establish links between rural businesses and their urban counterparts to enable them to continue to work and grow their businesses in rural areas.

"Broadband has been the lynchpin of this work, and Information and Communication Technology will support the 22 market towns that are participating in our Renaissance Market Towns programme as they work to re-invent themselves as the cream of 21st century market towns."

Michael Whitley, proprietor of Cambrai Covers said: "Broadband has really helped to move my business along. There was a time when the business world beat a path to Britain's door. Times have changed, and for a while we were stuck. Now using the Internet we can take our business to the world."
