An important new website has been launched in Wales to spur local authorities into improving their social services.
The website will display joint reviews of the quality of services local authorities offer to social groups such as vulnerable children, elderly people, people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities, people with mental health problems, other vulnerable groups and their carers.
The aim of the website is to ensure that the public are made aware of the results of these reviews, putting pressure on local authorities to maintain and improve the quality of social services they provide.
Jeremy Colman, auditor general for Wales, explained: "The new website will allow easier and quicker access to joint review information and materials for all those involved.
"It is one of the key means for ensuring a modern approach to inspection; encouraging wide participation in joint reviews and improving these vital local services."
The Social Services Inspectorate for Wales and the Wales Audit Office carried out the joint review.
The website contains reports of reviews in individual local authorities and a whole range of other material, including the guide to joint reviews in Wales, copies of leaflets, and a detailed handbook.© DeHavilland Information Services plc
