The crucial support the Internet can provide a television company with is yet again in evidence, as the BBC uses it to advertise one of its most critically acclaimed programmes.
The BBC is premiering preview clips of the new series of its smash-hit BBC Three series Nighty Night online, which is not being screened on TV till next month.
This displays once again the vital role that the net can play in promoting and raising awareness of new programmes and services, and the wide variety of new services that can be made available via the Internet.
The BBC has already displayed its willingness to make full use of the Internet by streaming episodes of another comedy, The Mighty Boosh, online a week before they appear on TV.
And given the early success of these new initiatives, it can be only a matter of time before other British television companies begin to rely on the Internet to improve the level of service they provide.
