The online service that makes it possible for property and land information to be accessed online is now becoming available right across Wales.
All of Wales's local authorities are connecting the National Land Information Service (NLIS), which was created as a national infrastructure project by the Improvement & Development Agency for local government (IDeA).
The NLIS's web-based infrastructure allows search requests to be submitted and responded to online, enabling solicitors, conveyancers and other property professionals to vastly accelerate the process of buying and selling private and commercial property.
Councillor Ian Swithenbank, chairman of the IDeA, said: "This outstanding effort by Welsh local authorities displays their commitment to a quality search product that the homebuyer can trust.
"The public is used to requesting these kinds of services through their solicitor as part of the home-buying process.
"To know that these requests are now being progressed online shows homebuyers that local authorities are improving services to meet the expectations of a modern, computerised society."
NLIS is on track for all 410 councils across England and Wales to be electronically connected to the service by December 2005.
There are now only 27 councils in England that still need to progress their electronic connection to NLIS.
