A new online system has been launched in Wandsworth that will make it far easier for parents to select the right secondary school for their children.

Choose a Wandsworth School will be available over the net, providing parents with all the information they need to consider when choosing a school for their child, such as information on examination results and subject specialisms.

Placing all this data in one, easily accessible place will enable parents to make a swift but nonetheless measured judgement of what is the most suitable school for their child.

The site will also conveniently contain details of schools open days and evenings that are taking place during September and early October.

This is yet another example of how the Internet is being used to revolutionise education in the UK. It is also another example of how the web is being used to help parents choose the correct school for their child, with an online school applications system having recently been launched in Dorset.

Wandsworth Borough Council has frequently used the Internet to radically improve the level of service it provides residents, with the online library resource it set up in conjunction with the neighbouring boroughs of Havering and Redbridge having been recognised by a nomination for the Association for Public Service Excellence's Innovation and IT Service Delivery award.
