Thurrock Council has the best website of any local authority in the UK.
That's according to SiteMorse, who gave Thurrock's site the highest overall marks for accessibility, performance and technical accuracy, PublicTechnology.net reports.
This reflects on the quality of services provided to local residents online by the council, displaying its devotion to using the Internet to radically enhance the service it provides.
And other councils will surely look to imitate and emulate what Thurrock has achieved, given the central role the web now plays in the activities of local authorities across the UK.
Councillor Neil Rockliffe, Thurrock Council's cabinet member for customer services, said: "Our website is recognised for its high standards, although this is the first time we've received the number one ranking in the UK.
"In today's modern age, it is essential that local people can easily access our website for help and information.
"We pride ourselves on the quality of www.thurrock.gov.uk and we will continue to develop and improve the site to meet the needs of the local community."
Thurrock achieved a MorseMark of 9.433, the highest mark SiteMorse has ever given to any local authority site.
Thurrock has now topped SiteMorse's league of websites for the past three months.© Adfero Ltd
