Results for the level of accessibility on local government websites are out.

The number of websites passing accessibility tests has risen this month, with a significant reduction in those completely failing.

Thurrock council came out on top again, beating its accessibility score in August. Clackmannanshire council's site has climbed back to second place, after falling out of the top ten last month.

The top ten also has three newcomers with Portsmouth's council climbing 61 places. Lewes local authority and the Dorset district and borough councils also making it into the top rank.

Highest climbers for September include the Isles of Scilly council site, which leapt 373 places to number 16. Local government websites in Leeds, Eden, Southend and Wealden also made significant improvements.

A record number of 22 sites have been recorded as error free this month.

The websites have been tested and ranking system compiled by the website monitor, SiteMorse.
